The OSDBU - and its Directors Council - shares information among its members to help promote best practices of small businesses obtaining government contracts. The OSDBU ensures that federal agencies and prime vendors comply with laws and regulations to promote small business concerns in selling goods and services in the government. Their goal is have all small businesses be aware of federal government contracting opportunities, know the rules and regulations re obtaining contracts, to advocate for all federal agencies to be compliant with these rules and regulations, and to open the door to small business concerns. The NYC Department of Small Business Services (SBS) Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) offers one-on-one assistance and training to help businesses in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Staten Island, and Rockland, Suffolk, and Nassau counties that are interested in local, state, and federal government contracting.  Services include: introduction to government contracting, certifications and contracting assistance programs, doing business with General Services Administration, navigating the System for Award Management (SAM), contract accounting, responding to RFPs/Proposal Writing,  and many more. 

Located at the SoBRO Center in the South Bronx, SoBro's Procurement technical assistance center provides a wide range of assistance - free of charge to businesses through one-on-one counseling sessions, classes, seminars and matchmaking  events. The PTAC helps local businesses find opportunities to bid on government contracting work, and provides assistance throughout the process. PTAC clients represent a diverse set of sectors and include architectural firms, construction and building trade companies, manufacturing, food industry information technology, and financial services businesses.

Professional Women In Construction (PWC)is a non-profit member association for entrepreneurs, professionals and managers (women & men) and companies and public agencies engaged in construction and allied industries. Mission: to advance the status of business and professional women in a male-dominated industry and educate the public regarding women's achievements. The organization offers business networking events, a newsletter, trade show & recruitment fair, referrals, workshops in trends of the industry and certification information for woman and minority-owned firms.
