The South Bronx Overall Economic Development Corporation (SoBRO) is contracted by the NYC Department of Small Business Services to provide FREE services to Manufacturing, Construction, Transportation, Wholesale, Utility or Film Production businesses in The Bronx:

  • Financing assistance
  • Recruiting and training employees
  • Incentives: connecting companies to tax credits and other incentives 
  • Navigating through government agencies
  • Workshops and seminars
  • Legal Assistance
  • Real Estate Assistance
  • Selling to Government
  • Advocacy with NYC on small business issues

Credit Inc. is a certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) whose mission is to increase access to credit for small businesses in the South Bronx, but we primarily serve minority- and women-owned businesses.

 

SoGal Foundation brings access to capital, education, resources, and network to diverse entrepreneurs within their local communities. 

SoGal Foundation has teamed up with Winky LuxbluemercurytwelveNYCTwilioWalmart.org’s Center for Racial Equity and other sponsors to make a small step towards progress by providing several $10K and $5K cash grants to Black women or nonbinary entrepreneurs.

The Lab provides a space to grow the entrepreneurial ecosystem that is the South Bronx. It is the first fully subsidized free business lab in the Bronx and is home to booksellers, artists, art and tourism organizations, restaurateurs, and more.

The Lab is part of the Third Avenue Business Improvement District's anti-displacement program and seeks to build a stronger partnership among South Bronx businesses for organizing and collaboration.
 

Start Small’s mission is to empower New York City’s most underserved individuals to start, maintain, and grow small businesses in order to accumulate assets, increase personal financial security, and contribute to the economy. Start Small provides access to a variety of resources for entrepreneurs and immigrants: small business financing, small business legal counseling, small business planning and operations, accounting and bookkeeping, tax, marketing and public relations, human resources, and government certification and contracting.

The Brooklyn Women’s Business Center (BWBC) at the Local Development Corporation of East New York (LDCENY) is developed in partnership with the Small Business Administration. The BWBC assists small business owners who are starting or expanding their small business. While extra consideration is given to specific challenges and issues for women entrepreneurs, our programs serve all – women, men, and racial and ethnic minorities.

The Local Development Corporation of East New York empowers low-to-moderate income women and minorities with programs that promote economic sufficiency, build assets and improve their lives and those of their families.  We work with local businesses to retain and build industry and commerce, create jobs and improve economic opportunities for local residents and neighborhood enterprises.

TiE New York is part of TiE Global,  whose efforts lie in five foundational programs – Mentoring, Networking, Education, Funding and Incubation. TiE New York's primary mission is to provide access to mentoring, networking, and funding for entrepreneurs in all stages, in all industries.

Year-round programming includes:

  • Charter Member Events
  • Open Mic Nights --  focused on networking and pitching for New York’s entrepreneur ecosystem
  • Mentoring Sessions -- provide one-on-one guidance to budding entrepreneurs by TiE Charter Members  
  • Pitch Competition -- allows founders to pitch to a room full of investors and other entrepreneurs
  • TiE New York Angels Showcase -- TiE New York Angels is a part of the  TiE Global Angels Alliance (TGAA). The local angel investment network empowers startups in early-stage and are seeking Seed or Series A funding.
  • TiE University --  a global program to support college startups and founders to grow their entrepreneurial ventures/ideas into viable and sustainable businesses.
  • TiE Women -- helping women entrepreneurs, inclusive of enterprise, origin, standing or background, across the globe to thrive via Learning, Mentoring, Access to Funding, Scalability, Safe Space and Community

WHIDC’s Business Operating Success System (B.O.$.$.) provides one-on-one business development assistance to entrepreneurs and micro-businesses in Upper Manhattan and the Western Bronx. Via the B.O.$.$. micro business development program businesses can discover which financial product is ideal for them.  They are provided with FREE assistance in applying for various loan and grant options, including federal, state, municipal, and private funding.

 

WBEC Metro NY is a dynamic community of certified women-owned businesses, building on their success through mutually beneficial partnerships with Fortune 1000 corporations and other WBEs.

Furthering the success of women-owned businesses is WBEC's  primary mission. We provide WBENC certification at the regional level, and serve as an advocate for certified women-owned businesses inWBEC's New York and Washington, D.C. regions, offering them educational programs, networking opportunities and recognition.

WHEDco is a community development organization based in the South Bronx. WHEDco helps individuals launch and operate small businesses through Home-Based Childcare programs and Commercial Revitalization Initiative, with training resources and programs that support economic stability.

WHEDco helps women build and grow successful home-based childcare businesses throughout the city, while improving the quality of childcare available to New Yorkers. WHEDco's Home-based Child Care Training Institue offers all childcare providers -whether they're licensed, registered, or legally exempt- comprehensive professional development training and licensing assistance so they can improve the quality of care they provide, increase their revenues, and grow their existing businesses.

Commercial Revitalization: WHEDco works to support small businesses along commercial corridors in the South Bronx. These businesses provide economic opportunities for local entrepreneurs and enable residents to shop their own neighborhoods. WHEDco services include connecting small business owners and entrepereneurs to no-cost and low-cost services to help their businesses thrive and attracting new businesses to vacant storefronts.
