Collections Services

Research Services

Contact NYPL Research Services to locate information you are seeking or to investigate potential sources for your research in the Library's collection.

Offsite Requests

In order to provide space for growing collections, the NYPL research centers house lesser-used materials at several offsite facilities. Many items can be delivered to reading rooms at any NYPL research center.

Advanced Requests

You may request that items from certain on-site collections at our four Research Centers be reserved for you prior to your visit.

Access to Other Institutions

Copies and Reproductions

NYPL's Permissions and Reproduction Services provides prints and high-resolution digital files for editorial, publication, or broadcast use.

Interlibrary Services

Interlibrary Servies provides access to materials such as those held at libraries outside the NYPL system. These materials include books, recordings, microfilm, copies of articles or portions of books. If you have a current library card, you may submit and manage your Interlibrary Loan requests online.

Money Matters improves the financial literacy of individuals throughout New York City by providing training, services, and information.

SCORE provides free, in-depth business counseling for business owners and small businesses.

Immigrant Services

The Library helps non-English speaking immigrants understand and interact with the culture, government, and educational system of the United States.

Correctional Services

NYPL's Correctional Services offers regular, sustainable, and quality library services to justice-involved people and their families in and around New York.

Services for Adults and Young Adults

The New York Public Library provides information and assistance to those seeking to obtain government ID, filing income taxes, and enrolling in a health insurance plan through the Health Insurance Marketplace.

Services for 50+ Adults

As the average age increases with the aging of the Baby Boom generation—generally accepted as those born from 1946 to 1964—the Library has added programs targeting those 50 years of age and older.

Services for People with Disabilities

Talking Book and Braille Service

The Andrew Heiskell Library operates a books-by-mail program that delivers thousands of recorded and braille titles postage-free.

Books by Mail

The New York Public Library's Books by Mail Service provides books and other library materials to homebound people of all ages who live in the Bronx, Manhattan and Staten Island.

School Services

MyLibraryNYC

Teachers at participating MyLibraryNYC schools can order books and teacher sets to be delivered directly to their school—for free!
