Naomi Klein & Martin Breum

Today on the show, a conversation about climate change and the Arctic between Canadian journalist and best-selling author Naomi Klein and Danish journalist Martin Breum. They were at the Library at the beginning of December last year as part of the Arctic Imagination Project, “an international library collaboration about the disappearing ice,” presented in partnership between six major libraries in Scandinavia, Greenland, and the United States. As the project's website says, “Today, the Arctic region is being challenged especially by melting ice and rising sea levels caused by climate change. As The Arctic Resilience Report states the Arctic ice simply takes up less space than any previous measurements have ever shown. Also that the effects of the disappearing ice will be felt everywhere on the planet, even in the Indian Ocean. The warning signals are getting stronger.”

Breum's work in Denmark focuses on the Arctic and climate change, and Naomi Klein was there on account of her 2014 book This Changes Everything: Capitalism vs. the Climate.
