Winner of the audience award at the Toronto Film Festival, The Island President tells the story of President Mohamed Nasheed of the Maldives, a man confronting a problem greater than any other world leader has ever faced -- the literal survival of his country and everyone in it. The Island President captures Nasheed's first year in office as he fights for democracy and battles climate change. A film about one man's mission to save his nation, The Island President will be screened exclusively for Young Lions, followed by a Q&A with the film's director, Jon Shenk, and producer, Bonni Cohen.
