Summary
"Through detailed case studies, this volume investigates the context and practice of experimental art exhibitions in Romania during the political regime under the leadership of Nicolae Ceausescu. This brief and selective mapping has a double stake: on the one hand, the questioning of the fine line between "alternative" and "official" art, between the politically and aesthetically engaged artistic discourse and the one in search of autonomy, is considered. On the other hand, the analysis of rhetoric, curatorial thinking and artistic language used in these exhibitions highlights not only the inherent plurality of the public sphere in the socialist period, but also the way in which existing micro-communities and artistic networks functioned both within and in outside the dominant discourses." -- Retrieved from https://www.idea.ro/editura/ro/cadre-in-vizibile-retorici-i-practici-expoziionale-experimentale-n-arta-din-romnia-n-perioada-1965-1989-d185.html, 8/17/2021
