Staten Island

How does it work?

The NYPL Wireless program uses Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) technology to provide in-home wireless connectivity for patrons in our coverage areas. Participants can check out a Wi-Fi device from an NYPL Wireless pilot location, and that device can connect to the CBRS network.

How long can the device be checked out for?

The device and service can be borrowed for up to a 30-day period until September 2, 2022. The device can be renewed, based on availability.

How much will it cost?

It is absolutely free. There are no fees for checking out the device or using the Wi-Fi service.

Will there be technical support available?

Yes. There will be technical support available for the devices and service. More information about who to contact for help is included in the device set-up instructions.

Is there anything participants need to provide to the Library?

As this is a trial, we ask that participants in the program share feedback on the device performance with NYPL. This includes a survey to fill out upon setting up the device and a survey to complete on return. Participants are not required to complete the surveys to use the service or renew devices.
