How do you deal with challenges in your life? What do you do to solve them? What does it feel like to work on a mission, quest, or challenge?

Join The New York Public Library this summer for our six-week Virtual Summer Camp program. Every week, kids and students of all ages, and their families, can find a new batch of fun, hands-on activities that promote learning, reading, and creativity—and can all be done from home.

Pre-K–Grade 2

Emotion Cards

Design a set of emotion cards describing the different feelings you have.



Grades 3–5

Design a Movement Game

Create your own hopscotch or movement game that can be completed multiple ways. Then challenge your family and friends to play!



Middle School & Up

Create a Chain Reaction Machine

Create a crazy contraption or Rube Goldberg machine using household objects and materials. Think about the kinds of obstacles you're creating. Consider filming your creation!



 


 

Activities for Wednesday, July 29

Pre-K–Grade 2

Fairy Tale Reenactment

Choose a favorite fairy tale or story, gather props and costumes from home, and act it out with your family. How did the main characters solve their problems?



Grades 3–5

"My Own Superhero" Comics

Draw a comic strip to show how you have solved a problem or overcome a challenge. Use your favorite stories or comic books as inspiration!



Middle School & Up

"My Own Superhero" Comics

Design a comic strip that tells the story of how you overcame a challenge. Take inspiration from the characters in myths, folktales, fairy tales, and your favorite graphic novels and comic books.



 


 

All Ages: Weekly Challenge



Create a Game Using MakeCode

Learn how to use MakeCode Arcade to design your very own a-maze-ing adventure computer game!
