The New York Public Library’s World Literature & Arts Festival brings together trailblazers from diverse disciplines and backgrounds to celebrate storytelling—through books, performances, culinary traditions, and beyond—while shining a spotlight on NYC’s vibrant communities. World Literature & Arts Festival kicks off during NYC’s Immigrant Heritage Week (April 13–19).

New Voices of the Bengali Diaspora: Poetry Reading & Discussion

Enjoy an evening of poetry readings and conversation with poets Ashna Ali and Amatan Noor as they explore identity, language, gender, and translation. The conversation will be moderated by Jafreen Uddin, executive director of the Asian American Writers' Worskhop (AAWW). This program is presented in partnership with AAWW.

More than a Meal: Celebrating Korean Food and Community

From its origins in the 1980s to its dominating presence on 32nd Street today, NYC's Koreatown is a dynamic culinary and cultural hub. Food writer James Park and chef Jae Jung explore its evolving relationship with New York cuisine in a conversation moderated by freelance journalist Hannah Bae. Presented in partnership with the Korean Cultural Center.

Translating the World with the National Book Foundation

‘The Latehomecomer’: Performance & Book Giveaway

Wed, Apr 30 | 6:30 PM | Bronx Library Center

Enjoy The Latehomecomer by Kao Kalia Yang transformed on stage by Hmong actress and singer Gaosong Heu. This moving performance follows Yang’s journey from a Thai refugee camp to life in the U.S., honoring her grandmother and preserving Hmong history through story and song. Plus, take home a free copy of the book while supplies last! Presented in partnership with Literature to Life.
