Tisch Youth Education Programs

From storytimes and after-school programs to English language classes and technology training, The New York Public Library has provided educational programs and resources to New Yorkers for more than 125 years. The Tisch Youth Education Programs, and all education work, is led by the Merryl and James Tisch Director of Branch Libraries and Education, and made possible by the generous support of Merryl and James Tisch.

Early Literacy

The Library offers free programs, books, and resources to help little learners to read, learn, and have fun! Come to your local branch and engage in a wide variety of free early childhood programs for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers.

NYPL After School

NYPL After School is a free drop-in program for kids aged 6–12 that takes place after regular school hours, Monday to Thursday, when school is in session. Join us at a participating branch for homework help from one of our tutors or Teen Reading Ambassadors, reading recommendations, fun writing, STEAM, and enrichment activities—and even snacks! About the Merryl and James Tisch Director of Branch Libraries and Education

Brian Bannon is The New York Public Library's first-ever Merryl and James Tisch Director. The position is responsible for the network of branch libraries as well as the Library’s educational strategy, maximizing the Library’s impact for all New Yorkers, and contributing to a culture of learning, reading, and education across the city. The expanded position was made possible by the generous support of Merryl and James Tisch.
