New York state residents are welcome to apply for a library card through the SimplyE app—the Library's free e-reader app that makes it easier than ever to borrow ebooks. When we reopen, new applicants can visit their local library to obtain and validate their physical library card.

No matter the circumstances, we’re here to help bring the joy of books to our youngest readers. Enjoy special multilingual storytimes brought directly to you by our expert children's librarians as they read beloved books, sing songs, and share early literacy tips. Storytimes are currently available in Español, Deutsch, 日本語, العَرَبِية and עבר׳ת.
In addition to free English classes, our staff has curated a list of ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) websites and resources for students and educators.
Practice conversation skills in an array of languages, including español (Spanish), 中文 (Chinese), and kreyòl ayisyen (Haitian Creole), with your fellow New Yorkers and expert librarians from branches across NYPL.
We’re here to help you pursue whatever goal you have! Volunteer tech coaches are available to assist new and experienced computer users. Get help using an iPhone's accessibility features, browsing the internet with screenreaders or screen enlargers, managing email, downloading audiobooks from BARD or BARD Mobile, typing, learning accessible computer games, and more. The coaches read with braille and print, use text-to-speech technology, and speak various languages, including Español and Türkçe.
