Poetry Writing Workshops
Sept–Oct, Various Dates and Locations
Join us at libraries across the Bronx, Manhattan, and Staten Island in partnership with The Nuyorican Poets Cafe for a series of poetry workshops! Local New York poets Jasmine "JRose" Rosario, Emanuel Xavier, Caridad “La Bruja” De La Luz, and cap will facilitate writing workshops honoring and exploring Latinx identities. Workshops will be offered bilingually (Spanish and English) or in English.

Have fun dancing salsa with a 4-week course designed for all levels, from beginners to those looking to sharpen their skills. Led by Joe Burgos, a seasoned professional with over 25 years of experience and director of Piel Canela Dance School, this course will guide you through the history of salsa and get you moving confidently on the dance floor.
Queerceañera: Latinx Heritage Celebration for Teens

NYPL’s Pura Belpré: The Library's First Puerto Rican Librarian and Passionate Advocate
Starting her career at the 135th Street branch, Pura Belpré became an enthusiastic advocate for the Spanish-speaking community and shepherded in bilingual story hours, stockpiling Spanish-language books, and advancing programs based on traditional holidays such as Three Kings Day. The branches where she worked, including and especially the 115th Street and Aguilar branches, became vital cultural centers for local Latino residents.
