Schomburg Rental Rates and Process

Rental Process

Catering to a variety of needs, we offer four unique spaces: The Langston Huges Auditorium, Langston Hughes Lobby & Mezzanine, American Negro Theatre (ANT), and Courtyard. You may schedule a site visit to check out our spaces in person. In order to help plan your event, we'll need detailed information about your proposed event. 

Once a date and space have been tentatively selected, a discussion may be necessary with the Schomburg Technical Director. Once all details are secured, the rental contract will be created, reviewed and sent to you for signing and returned to the Schomburg Center with the agreed upon deposit. The date of your event will be confirmed only after the contract has been co-signed by the Schomburg Director or his designated representative. No ticketing or advertising may take place until the contractual agreement has been confirmed.

Rates do not include any maintenance, security, audio/visual and administrative costs (please see the Additional Rates section).

Please Note: We do not provide catering services or event management services. We do not hold a liquor license. If alcohol services are needed, a caterer with a liquor license and insurance is required. Until further notice, renters are responsible to ensure and inspect proper vaccination status of all persons entering.

Additional Rates

AV/Technical Rates - Individual & Non-Profit (4 hours up to 10 hours)

AV/technical rates will be provided by our in-house service provider, Park Boulevard Productions. Our AV/technical provider is mandatory for all rentals utilizing A/V equipment inside of Langston Hughes Auditorium, although some event needs may require use of a Technician in other spaces.

  • Bar Rental: $150.00/per hour (2 available)
