- Summary
- "The booklet begins with complimentary quotes from the likes of Robert Parker, Jancis Robinson MW, Oz Clarke and Wine Spectator Magazine. It then gives a concise introduction to the Israel wine industry covering such issues as: wine regions, grape varieties, kosher wine and there is also a helpful map. The booklet lists no less than thirty four Israeli wineries from the largest commercial enterprises producing millions of bottles a year, to small boutique wineries producing only a few thousand. Many of the wineries featured produce kosher wines, but not all; there are thers that do not. Each winery is allocated two pages giving valuable but brief information and an opportunity to display the labels of their most important brands. The wineries cover the spectrum from A to Z (Alexander to Zion). Also, they hail from all regions geographically from the Upper Galilee (Galil Mountain) and Golan Heights (Pelter) in northern Israel, to the Negev (Yatir), in the south. Some of the wineries were founded in the 19th century (Carmel, Teperberg), others in the last few years, at the beginning of the 21st century (Gvaot, Shilo). What is immediately clear from browsing through the booklet, is the immense variety in Israel?s small, dynamic wine industry." --Publisher's website.
