- First work originally published under the title A bunch of carrots (London : R. Roughton, 1936). This ed. was so severely censored that it could not be sold. The same publisher issued a new ed. in the same year, under the title Remove your hat. In that ed., the poems The Chicago eucharistic congress and Patriotic ex-servicemen's hymn were replaced by Stick no bills and I am not asleep, and some of the other translations were modified. The present ed. includes all poems from both earlier eds., and restores the original versions of the translations.
