The Parachute Jump : southwest corner of the block between Surf Avenue, the Riegelmann Boardwalk, West 16th Street and West 19th Street, Brooklyn. Invented by Commander James H. Strong. Engineered by Elwyn E. Seelye & Company. Originally erected 1939. Moved to present site 1940-41 by architect Michael Marlo and engineer Edwin W. Kleinert / Landmarks Preservation Commission.
