- Description
- 1 volume, bound : paper, ink, manuscript, illustrations; 20 cm
- Summary
- Manuscript on paper, on both sides of leaves, in 25 to 33 lines; portions in 1 column. Written by 1 scribe with stylized handwriting, text in sepia ink. Title page with the first engraving of the series Cor Iesv Amanti Sacrv printed in black ink.
- Page block has been minor trimmed in binding. Some worming on front and back covers.
- The manuscript consists of 46 folios, 18 of which contain the Cor Iesu Amanti Sacrum engravings along with their Latin inscriptions. These images are not the original works by Wierix but rather copies made by Johannes Boel and printed in Antwerp. The engravings are not glued onto the pages; instead, they have been interleaved with blank sheets and subsequently bound together. The blank interleaved pages are filled with Dutch text accompanying the images. Each of the 18 engravings is paired with handwritten commentary in a stylized script.
