Summary
  1. Barnard Hughes (1915-2006) and Helen Stenborg (1925-2011) were prolific stage and screen actors. Hughes was best known for his award-winning turn as the titular character in Da, and Stenborg performed extensively with the Circle Repertory Company. Their papers date from the 1880s to 2011, and chronicle their professional careers and personal collecting interests through posters, programs, photographs, correspondence, engravings, scripts, manuscripts, and award trophies. The collection also contains theater memorabilia that Hughes inherited from Thelma Chandler, a stage manager. The Chandler memorabilia includes correspondence from Margaret Webster, the American director, producer, and actress.
