Summary
Panel discussion on the experiences of working actors. Panelists weigh the pros and cons of creating a character for a new play versus playing a familiar character in a revival, the advantages and disadvantages of appearing in a long run of a production, the impact of working in theater on an actor's daily life, and related matters. Jane Alexander talks about her role in the drama Shadowlands, Jonathan Pryce discusses his work in the musical Miss Saigon, Topol speaks of his longtime affiliation with Fiddler on the roof, Stockard Channing discusses her role in John Guare's Six degrees of separation, Mercedes Ruehl discusses her work in Neil Simon's Lost in Yonkers, and Ron Rifkin and Sarah Jessica Parker talk about their experience together Off-Broadway in Jon Robin Baitz' drama The Substance of fire. Panelists also take questions from members of the audience.
