Summary
Documentary on the life and career of Richard Rodgers (1902-1979), composer of music for the stage, screen and television. Best known for his work in musical theater, Rodgers was most successful during the years he collaborated with lyricist Lorenz "Larry" Hart, in the 1920s and '30s, and then with lyricist Oscar Hammerstein, II, his songwriting partner from 1943 to 1959. Includes archival footage from stage and screen productions of shows featuring Rodgers' music, and excerpts from interviews with members of Rodgers' family, his friends and colleagues, other show business professionals, and historians of theater and musicology.
