Summary

Panel discussion on regional theaters and the development of new plays, featuring professionals from a variety of backgrounds. The panel's producers focus on the financial considerations involved when deciding whether a play might work best in a Broadway setting, or in an Off-Broadway production. Various factors are considered, such as the impracticality of taking plays on tour across the country before they open in New York, as in earlier years. The economic causes of higher ticket prices are examined. Panelists also discuss the "ballyhoo" surrounding Tony Kushner's drama Angels in America, due to open on Broadway in the spring.
