Summary
Music executive and television actor Aki Aleong was born on December 19, 1934 in Trinidad. He attended Progressive Education Institute and Boys High School in Brooklyn and, in 1951, enrolled at Brooklyn College. In 1954, Aleong appeared in Teahouse of the August Moon on Broadway. Aleong was cast in Motorcycle Gang in 1957 and later performed in 200 television programs and thirty movies including: Never So Few (1959), The Hanoi Hilton (1987), Farewell to the King (1989), Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story (1993) and House of Sand and Fog (2003). Aleong wrote the hit songs "Trade Winds" and "Shombalor." In 1967, Aleong was hired by Capital Records. He produced Norman Connors' You are My Starship and HistoryMaker Roy Ayers' Red Black and Green. He served on the boards of the Screen Actors Guild and Media Action Network for Asian Americans and was the executive director of Asians in Media.
