  1. Correspondence, scrapbooks, and photographs related to actor, director and producer James Neill (September 29, 1860-March 16, 1931) and his actor wife Edythe Chapman (1863-1948). Correspondence documents professional activities of Neill in booking and directing stage productions, as well as film appearances, also personal correspondence. Photographs document many silent films in which Neill and/or Chapman appeared, as well as portrait photographs of Neill, Chapman and colleagues. One scrapbook includes photographs documenting stage productions, incuding national tours, and personal activities of Neill and Chapman from 1900 to 1910. Of particular interest are numerous photographs taken in Hawaii and several photographs of buildings destroyed in the April 1906 San Francisco earthquake. The second scrapbook includes programs for productions directed by Neill at the Belasco Theatre in New York City in 1911-1912.
