- Robert Span Browne (1924-2004) was an economist, activist, foreign aid officer, and professor of economics who worked to promote Black economic development. Browne was the founder of the Black Economic Research Center (BERC) (1969-1980), and the Twenty-First Century Foundation (1971-1984).
