Summary
Panel discussion on design for the theater, including the design of costumes, scenery, puppets, and video projections used in stage plays. Costume designer Angela Wendt discusses her work on the recent musical Rent, and displays a costume designed for the show with the assistance of performer Aiko Nakasone, who models it. Julie Archer, Ruth Maleczech, and Karen TenEyck talk about their work with the Mabou Mines theater company, specifically on the recent production of An Epidog. Archer displays the play's dog puppet called Rose, TenEyck shows how she created video projections for the piece, and a video clip of the play is shown. Christopher Barreca and Beverly Emmons discuss their collaboration on the recent stage play based on Gabriel García Márquez' novel Chronicle of a death foretold. Barreca displays models he created that were used to build the sets for the production, and Emmons discusses how the sets were lit.
