Hussar, reputed to be carrying the British Army's payroll, hit Pot Rock while attempting to sail through Hell Gate to a new anchorage at Gardiners Bay on eastern Long Island. Robert Apuzzo has gathered accounts and documents relating to the many unsuccessful attempts to find and salvage the wreck.
