The Schomburg Center's Manuscripts, Archives & Rare Book Division has five copies of the book; Sc Rare 016.811-S (Copy 1 & 2) are pre-1926 items that include stamps of: "Division of Negro Literature and History," "Property of the City of New York," and "The New York Public Library: Circulation Department, 135 Street Branch, 103 West 135th St. on several parts of the book; " Copy 3 is a gift; Copy 4 is part of the original collection purchased from Arthur A. Schomburg in 1926; it lacks original cover, imperfect: bound incorrectly; p. 49 leaf bound after p. 57 leaf. Copy 5 (Sc Rare 016.811-S) inscribed by the compiler A.A. Schomburg; treated; rebound in light navy blue cloth over boards with leather label pasted on spine.
All copies stamp date "Jan. 23, '89" is probably an indication that these items were reclassified and transferred to the Manuscripts, Archives & Rare Book Division from the Jean Blackwell Hutson Research and Reference Division in January 1989.
