No. 4689 is heard tackling the steep section of winding track near Dark Hill on its way to the quarry -- At the same point and date a heavy train of empty hoppers is double headed by No. 3775 and No. 4689, the sounds of the exhaust echoing from the surrounding hills -- At the Gloucester Central the station announcer heralds the arrival of the morning Paddington to Cheltenham express on 6/11/63 -- At Cheltenham Malvern Road, No. 4564 is heard starting its ten coach train for the final short hop to the terminus at Cheltenham St. James -- Double chimnied Castle N. 7014, Caerhays castle, departs from Malvern Road on a West of England to Wolverhampton express on 29/8/63 -- Single chimnied Castle No. 5089, Westminster Abbey, wheezes somewhat as it takes out a long express from the North to West of England from Malvern Road -- Grange class mixed traffic 4-6-0s were often used on Saturday summer holiday expresses -- Hall Class No. 6999, Capel Dewi Hall, heads a Newquay to Wolverhampton express out of Malvern Road -- An up freight approaches Malvern Road from the west at speed, hauled by another Hall No. 7925, Westol Hall -- Manor Class No. 7816, Frilsham Manor, arrives at Malvern Road on the 5.00 p.m. Gloucester to Cheltenham commuter express of five coaches -- On the same train, large 2-6-2T No. 6160 departs from Malvern Road -- The variety of locos used on the 5.00 p.m. Gloucester was very varied -- Another freight is heard as 2-8-0 No.3832 tackles the High Street bank with a heavy load -- The Chalford auto or railcar was a local service between Chalford, Stroud and Gloucester -- The last two sections are of special interest as they concern two locomotives not usually associated with Gloucestershire/The Kings and the 47XX heavy 2-8-Os.
