Summary
Manuscript of a substantial part of the 1799 volume of The Annual Anthology, an anthology of new poetry edited by Southey; mainly, if not entirely, in Southey's hand. Includes 26 poems written by Southey and an additional 8 poems written by the following authors and copied in Southey's hand: Humphry Davy, Charles Lamb, Charles Lloyd, and William Taylor. Also included are drafts of the volume's title-page and 'Advertisement.' With a tipped-in note of attestation by John Payne Collier, and the bookplates of Frederick William Cosens and A. Edward Newton (part 3, lot 284 of his sale, Parke-Bernet Galleries, October 29-30, 1941).
