  1. The stage play Summer and smoke premiered on Broadway at the Music Box Theatre in 1948. Subsequently, Geraldine Page appeared in the 1952 Off-Broadway revival at the Circle in the Square Theatre, and repeated her performance as Alma in this film adaptation.
