Summary
  1. Joshua Hett Smith (1749-1818), a New York City lawyer, was the youngest brother of American Loyalist William Smith Jr. (1728-1793). The collection consists of Joshua Hett Smith's letter of consolation, 1816 March 5, to his niece Mary on the death of her mother, Sarah Smith Keteltas (died 1815), with a typed transcript of same. The letter is addressed to Miss Mary Kittletass at Jamaica, Long Island.
