  • Programs (1935-1955) for Awake and sing! by Clifford Odets, mainly reflecting performances by The Group Theatre, including the first and second engagements at the Belasco Theatre (NY) with cast changes. Also of note in this lot are a number of regional productions, including The Jewish Art Theatre of Dallas; the Contemporary Theatre (formerly, the New Theatre Union) at the Detroit Institute of the Arts; translations into Yiddish by Sigmund Largman and Chaver-Paver produced by the Works Progress Administration Federal Theatre Project (East and West); the Equity Library Theatre (NY). Includes a production by the London Little Theatre (Ottawa, Canada).
  • Notable cover art on the program for the first Group Theatre engagement at the Belasco Theatre depicts a scene from The Merry Wives of Windsor by William Shakespeare and was reproduced from the Theatre Division's Hiram Stead Collection of theatrical iconography.
