Studs Terkel, a host and broadcaster on Chicago radio WFMT, introduces Andre Watts, a celebrated pianist, in town with 3 concerts scheduled at Orchestra Hall, who discusses and performs (music broadcast from his earlier recordings) Brahms and his intermezzi; Gershwin and his music; Liszt, the composer and pianist; modern recording technology; and famous pianists Vladimir Horowitz and Arthur Rubinstein. He also remembers his family, childhood, first interest in learning to play the piano, and his great teacher, Leon Fleisher, a pianist and conductor. Music works from recordings include; Intermezzo in E minor, op. 119, no. 2 by Brahms, song Liza by Gershwin, Oiseaux tristes (sad birds) by Ravel, and Campanella after Paganini by Liszt.
