- Though Nin is given sole credit for the preface, Mary Dearborn’s The Happiest Man Alive (New York: Simon and Schuster, 1991, p. 117), demonstrates that Miller wrote it (“he wrote the essay himself and had Nin sign it (she no doubt had something to do with its composition as well).”
