- David Berger interviews African-American conductor Dean Dixon (Germany Today, program no. 555), who discusses his reasons to move from the USA to Europe, and his conducting career there in the 1960's-1970's, including his experience as a principal conductor of the Gothenburg Symphony in Sweden in 1953-1960, and of the hr-Sinfonieorchester (Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra) in Frankfurt, Germany in 1961-1974, conducting both classical and contemporary musical works. He also talks about his recordings made in Germany; social benefits for professional musicians in Germany; and his plans to move back to the USA in the near future.
