To be played on American Airlines flights during the months of June and July 1979, the recording intermingles interviews with conductor Marriner with musical works he conducts. The interview covers such topics as exploration of baroque music; Marriner's choice of repertoire; his engagement with Minnesota Orchestra, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra, and other venues while leading the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields that he founded; his career from violinist to conductor; the limitations and capacities of classical musicians; and his high opinion of American orchestral musicians.
