The Galen Williams Collection of Letters was purchased by the Berg Collection from Galen Williams, in April 2014.
Collection comprises correspondence received by Galen Williams in her capacity as Director of the 92nd Street YMHA Poetry Center from 1961 to 1970, and as the founder, in 1970, of the organization Poets & Writers.
Contains ca. 250 letters and postcards by 167 distinguished writers and poets (as well as several non-literary notables), including Ai, Margaret Atwood, W. H. Auden, Marvin Bell, Saul Bellow, Paul Blackburn, Anthony Burgess, James Dickey, E. L. Doctorow, Margaret Drabble, T. S.
