- Description

- Summary
- Bernard Herrmann, a composer known for his work in motion pictures and collaboration with Alfred Hitchcock, speaks about composers and book writers of musicals: Vincent Youmans (whom he calls one of the most talented composers), Jay Gorney, a theater and film song writer whom Wilk interviewed three days prior to this interview, conductor and composer Leonard Bernstein, Ira and George Gershwin, Vernon Duke, Kurt Weill, Serge Koussevitzky, Igor Stravinsky, and composers Johnny Green and Arthur Schwartz. He analyzes them on a human and professional level, compares their works and styles, talks about their success and abilities, and recalls various episodes in their lives and career. At times, he projects a rather critical point of view. Herrmann also provides some information on royalties for songs from movies and musicals that composers and lyricists received or were entitled to.
