- The topic of this interview is "music business in the old days." Bob Robbins (who is in the music business) speaks about his late father, Jack Robbins, who ran his own music publishing firms that were closely associated with Hollywood studios (he sold one to MGM) and engaged a team of prominent American composers (Vernon Duke, Duke Ellington, Louis Alter, Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, etc.) which resulted in publishing musical hits such as "Over the rainbow", "Ballad for Americans" etc.; his stormy relationship with Louis Mayer, head of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer; the golden age of the movies; his father's ability to extract themes from film scores and turn them into pop songs; composers C. Porter, I. Berlin, F. Loesser, J. Styne, J. Kern, etc.; famous dance bands; and prominent lyricists such as Gus (Gustav) Kahn, Johnny Mercer, and others.
