- Summary
- Harold (Hecky) Rome, a composer, lyricist, and writer for musical theater, speculates about the success of his Broadway debut revue "Pins and Needles" and deduces the formula for success. He speaks about his other hit "Call me mister;" state of revues; comedian Milton Berle; the instinct of a writer; the profession of a songwriter; the creation of a show; comedy on television; the popularity of his song "FDR Jones" from the revue "Sing out the news" celebrating FDR's prewar presidential campaign; the musical "Gone with the wind" he composed (in production in London at the time of the interview); the version of this musical staged in Japan and called "Scarlett"; the difficulties he and his associates encountered in order to produce "Scarlett;" and points out vast differences between these two versions.
