- Summary
- The Good Neighbor Foundation was organized in 1933 by Benjamin E. Neal "with the express purpose of establishing a neighborly precedent by setting aside one day on which not one unemployed American would go hungry." By the 1950s, the aims of the foundation had expanded to encourage peaceful national and international relations "by promulgating the spirit and practice of the Golden Rule." Records consist of one folder of correspondence, congressional and gubernatorial proclamations, newsletters, and other related material documenting the creation and observation of Good Neighbor Day, and the local, national, and international objectives of the Good Neighbor Foundation.
