- Summary
- Veteran director/producer/playwright George Abbott discusses his career in the theater, from his early days as an actor to his work as a director, covering a period of some six decades. He reminisces about several of his friends and colleagues, including Richard Rodgers, Lorenz Hart, Irving Berlin, and Cole Porter, and about the musical comedies they created together. Singers Sherry Mathis and Jerry Lanning perform several songs from shows with which Abbott was associated. Abbott himself sings one song, from a 1923 Broadway drama entitled The white desert, written by Maxwell Anderson, in which he appeared. Abbott's presentations were taped on two different occasions, probably in 1981 and 1982.
