Summary
  1. Collection includes original and transcribed letters and other material by English-American political theorist Thomas Paine. Original material includes a January 14, 1779, letter to Henry Laurens with an account of "monies rec'd since I have been in America," and a manuscript copy of the poem "Castle in the Air." Transcriptions include the Laurens letter, as well as an 1808 exchange between Paine and London Corresponding Society activist Thomas Hardy.
