Anglo-American novelist and playwright Christopher Isherwood talks about his life and career as a writer in Europe and the USA, his family background, and his homosexuality. He discusses his books and novels that earned a world-wide recognition such as Goodbye to Berlin that was the inspiration for the play I am a camera (1951), the 1955 film I am a camera (both starring Julie Harris), the Broadway musical Cabaret (1966) and the film (1972) of the same name, and his biographical book Christopher & his kind. He speaks about his long-term relationships with his partner, the portrait artist Don Bachardy. Being a gay activist, Isherwood also talks about gay rights in the United States in the 1970's.Track 3.
