Summary
Panel discussion 1: Wendy Whelan discusses the creation of Shen Wei's Body Study III, adjusting to the music; working in the studio with Shen Wei, this work being his first on pointe, how Whelan began the Restless Creature project, working with four choreographers and how they met, working with Jerome Robbins compared to working with these four young choreographers, and setting up the next piece by Joshua Beamish. Panel discussion 2: The four choreographers and Wendy Whelan discuss the creation process for each of their dances and working with Whelan, Whelan talks about the trust and chemistry needed for a pas de deux and the inner narrative used in a male/female duet, how important women were in Balanchine's works compared to this project, and setting up the next piece by Brian Brooks.
