- Summary
- Letters from or relating to Rockwell Kent, American painter, printmaker, illustrator, and writer. Original letters date mainly from the 1940s from Kent to Dr. William J. M. A. Maloney relating to both professional and social matters. Several letters to and from various publishers concern the publication or reproduction of Kent's work; and one 1957 circular letter from Kent is written in his capacity as Chairman of the National Council of American-Soviet Friendship. Also present are photocopies of letters to Frances Schillinger (also Frances Singer or Frances Shaw), widow of Joseph Schillinger and close friend of Kent, written between 1931 and 1969, concerning personal and professional matters, frequently mentioning his activities with the National Council of American-Soviet Friendship and the social and political repercussions of this affiliation.
