Summary
Emmanuéle Phuon and Eric J. Sargis discuss their backgrounds and how they began working together on this project, Phuon talks about the four roles played by Cambodian dancers, why she decided to work with Cambodian dancers, how her interest in working with Classically trained Cambodian dancers for this project and taking it in a new western direction, the juxtaposition of the traditional monkey role with the natural monkey movement, the process involved with transferring the movement to the dancers and how their intensive training begining at age 6 helped with this process, incorporating improvisation, Sargis discussing monkeys behaviors with the dancers, and what Phuon gave the dancers and what she took away from the experience.
