Soth Somaly relates a story about how her mother taught her dance as a child, and her mother's use of mocking and belittling language. She speaks about the difference between harsher teaching methods used in the past and more encouraging methods now used; she describes her own teaching methods and her efforts to adapt to students' characters and not use hurtful words. She speaks about how teachers selected students in the past and how she selects students. She describes how costumes should be adapted to different body types.
