  • Reel 1. Keynote session: Dance coverage in a culturally changing world (ca. 70 min.) / opening remarks: Robert Abrams ; panel: Virginia Johnson (Dance Theatre of Harlem), Ronald K. Brown (Ronald K. Brown/Evidence), Eduardo Vilaro (Ballet Hispanico). Topics discussed include brief histories of the panel members' dance companies, cultural changes and their reflections in the dance community, the effect of a deemphasis of arts education in school on both new artists and the community as a whole, how reviews affect them and media's role in affect change in the dance community, and diversity in the dance world beyond race/ethnicity.
  • Reel 2. Dance writing: Then and now (ca. 90 min.) / moderator: Robert Johnson (The Star-Ledger) ; panel: Robert Greskovic (Wall Street Journal), Leigh Witchel (New York Post), Christine Jowers (The Dance Enthusiast). Panel members discuss how they got their start writing about dance and their career trajectories, dealing with financial aspects and how they differ between online and print media, online comments versus letters to the editor, tailoring an online article layout to accomodate the typical internet reader's attention span, using the internet as a proving ground, quality of dance in New York City, and whether New York City is still a major player in he dance world.
  • Reel 3. Dance/Talk (ca. 80 min) / moderator: Joanna G. Harris, Ph. D. ; panel: Joe Goode, Jennifer Muller, Rashaun Mitchel, Rajika Puri. Panel discusses using language and sound in choreographis works, with excerpts of Joe Goode's The Rambler and Ann Parson's Nox.
  • Reel 4. Calliope awards presentations to Robert Gottlieb and Nancy Reynolds (ca. 25 min.) / presenter: Alastair Macaulay. Awards ceremony recognizing Gottlieb and Reynolds for their gifts to dance criticism over their careers. REcipients discuss their careers and backgrounds and why they got involved in dance criticism.
  • Reel 5. Don't throw that away! Preserving your legacy as a dance critic (ca. 49 min.) / panel: Nichole Arvin, Tara Davis, Maureen Maryanski, Imogen Smith, Nicole Topich, Amanda Wick. Panel offers discusses the importance for critics to be proactive in the preservation of their work and offer advice to critics about organizing and preparing their papers for eventual acquisition by an institution as well as how to find the most appropriate place for their collections.
