- This production book includes rehearsal schedules and handwritten notes of revisions and cuts. The confusing pagination reflects the changes made during the troubled rehearsal and out-of-town tryout process. Many changes were made by the producers without the creators' consent. Rehearsals began Nov. 2, 1964. A Philadelphia tryout opened Dec. 28, 1964, and closed Jan. 16, 1965. A Boston tryout (reduced to a half-week) opened Jan. 20 and closed Jan. 23, 1965. Previews began Feb. 1 at the Broadhurst Theatre, New York, N.Y. The musical opened and closed after one performance on Feb. 6, 1965.
